I'm always appalled at how expensive store made hummus is. Seeing how it's made up mostly of chickpeas, and you can buy those for about 80 cents a can!

So here's a simple recipe for hummus. This is a great basic recipe that you can add extra ingredients to, like scallions, olives, and even roasted red peppers!

16 oz can of chickpeas
1/2 c. reserved liquid from chickpeas
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp tahini
2 cloves garlic, crushed or roasted
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp olive oil

Combine chickpeas, reserved liquid, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, and salt in food processor until consistency is smooth. With food processor still running, drizzle in olive oil until fully incorporated.

Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and grilled pita bread!

testing.. testing... 1.. 2..

This week I got the chance to test with the wonderful Steve Giralt and awesome prop stylist Karin Olsen. We decided to go with a dessert themed shoot. Cause honestly, who doesn't like desserts?? And I wanted an excuse to play with my new butane torch. We were able to shoot in Steve's new apt in BK which had wonderful light throughout the day, not to mention an amazing view of the statue of liberty and my new home Jersey!

Here are a few samples of what we did. Let me know your thoughts and of course any constructive criticism is always welcomed :)
